Hello future students and colleagues! My full name is Madison, but I prefer to go by Maddie. I am 24 years old, I was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana but was moved to Colorado when I was three weeks old. Since I grew up a mountain girl, I love everything from hiking, skiing, to reading a good book by the fire. My parents are from Indiana so naturally I always had a dream of being a Hoosier. You might be asking yourself, how did you end up back in Indiana from the great state of Colorado? Here's why.
I was a sophomore at Colorado State University and back in my day I was an avid lacrosse player. I had injured my foot during a game and I needed to have surgery to correct it. Long story short, I had the surgery but experienced a major complication known as compartment syndrome. I had to have many surgeries which put me in the hospital for a month, forcing me to drop out of Colorado State. Looking back, my foot complication was the best thing to ever happen to me because it gave me the opportunity to move to Indiana and live out my life long dream of going to Indiana University and becoming a teacher. So here I am! I am a transfer student majoring in Elementary Education, with a science concentration at the wonderful, Indiana University.
Beliefs as a Teacher
I come from a family of teachers, so I was raised with a passion for teaching. I have always found that I adore working with young kids, which has inspired me to teach 2nd graders. I cannot wait to help educate the future generations of our society. I have many beliefs as a future educator, but most importantly I believe that all my students will be guided to success through my passion for teaching. I aspire to create a warm, welcoming classroom that appeals to all types of learning to make the most out of my student's education. I have found that interactive learning is the most productive way to learn. My classroom will incorporate many hands on activities in order to instill long term retention of my lessons.
